Mother/Daughter Trip

On October 7, my mother and I went to North La. to visit the cemetery where her parents are buried and to visit an old friend. We haven't been to the cemetery in about 6 years. We usually try to go every couple of years, but for some reason, we just haven't made it in awhile. We drove to Jackson on Tues and spent the night. We got up early Wednesday morning and drove the rest of the way. We came home Thursday. Yep, quick trip!!
We had several NEAT experiences on our trip. The first one, my mom got to visit with an old high school friend. The had reconnected about a year ago and since she still lives outside Arcadia, we decided to pay her a visit. It seemed like no time had passed, even though it had been about 50 years since these friends had seen each other. We stayed with Sallie for about 2 1/2 hrs. I felt like I had known her all of my life!! She was so sweet!!
The 2nd NEAT experience was the fact that the log cabin that my great grandfather built a LONG time ago is still standing. It is located down a winding country road and about 1 mile off the main road. Mom wasn't sure if she would remember where it exactly was. But , she did!! We were driving down the road and all of a sudden, mom yelled, "STOP!!" "That's it!" She got out of the car and started walking down the path that she though led to the old house. And it did!! I got out and followed her and eureka! There it was!!

Here is the house that Benjamin Franklin Jimmerson built!!
He was a week shy of 100 when he died in April of 1965!!

Yep, as you can tell, one side is falling in!
Mom wouldn't let me get too close. She couldn't remember where the wells were.

This is the little country church were my mother went to church as a child!!
